Microneedling

Microneedling: Skin Resurfacing

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that transforms aging skin into a major transformation for aging skin. If you have wrinkles, age spots, fine lines, or other common skin concerns making you look tired and older, microneedling is a great treatment option that doesn’t use any chemicals or injections.

Here at Gulf Coats Aesthetics, we offer safe and gentle microneedling to improve your skin without causing lasting or noticeable damage. The treatment earned its nickname — collagen induction therapy — because it transforms aging skin your skin to produce more collagen and become firmer, stronger, and smoother.

During the procedure, the team uses a roller device with a series of very fine needles to make a set of punctures across your skin. The punctures are very shallow and don’t bleed much, but they cause enough damage to kick-start your body’s natural repair system. This involves the growth and reinforcement of collagen fibers.

After microneedling, your skin can also better absorb products and nutrients that boost its health.

Which features can microneedling minimize?

The repairs that microneedling stimulates can rebuild your skin from the inside out, causing a notable reduction in many of the features that make your skin look aged. By reviving your skin with microneedling, you can minimize:

  • Acne scars

  • Small scars from injuries

  • Wrinkles and fine lines

  • Large pores

  • Hyperpigmentation and dark spots

  • Stretch marks

Skin aging results in increased scarring, laxity, dullness, and other cosmetic concerns. With microneedling procedures at Gulf Coast Aesthetics, you can initiate the growth of new collagen to make your skin firmer, smoother, brighter, and less blemished.

It’s important to keep in mind that the results of microneedling are somewhat slow to develop because it takes time for collagen to grow. You’ll be able to enjoy the full effect of your microneedling procedure after a couple of months, with initial changes appearing in just weeks.

What does microneedling feel like?

With microneedling, the needles are small and make shallow enough punctures that they don’t cause the same pinching sensation as an IV or intramuscular injection.

You might experience a bit of discomfort during your procedure, but you can use a topical anesthetic before the treatment to make the experience more tolerable if you have sensitive skin.

How should I maintain my microneedling results?

To get the most out of microneedling at Gulf Coast Aestheics, you should avoid getting a sunburn or tan. Our team encourages you to wear sunscreen daily as your skin will be extra sensitive after your treatment.

Each individual’s skin is different and depending on your degree of damage the team might recommend a series of microneedling treatments for the best possible results.
