What Is Arm Lift Surgery?

A frustrating side effect of getting older or losing weight is excess skin. At Mississippi Institute of Weight Loss & Gulf Coast Aesthetics in Gulfport, MS, we offer upper arm lift surgery (also known as brachioplasty) as a treatment for patients who cannot seem to tighten and tone the arm with natural methods. Lax skin from the elbow to the shoulder is prevalent, especially for men and women who are advancing in age or have lost weight. An upper arm lift removes this loose, hanging skin sometimes called "bat wings." Dr. Donald Balder is very knowledgeable in skin tightening and fat removal procedures. If you want to hear more about how brachioplasty can change the shape of your upper arms, contact our office to schedule an appointment today.

What Should I Expect with An Arm Lift?

Your recovery period may take around two weeks with lots of elevating the arm. Permit yourself time to heal. You use your arms for many things so most patients are encouraged to ease their way back into their daily activities. If needed, a suture removal appointment will be scheduled around ten days after surgery. Compression garments should be worn until Dr. Balder releases you. All exercise should be eliminated for at least one month except frequent, short walks. If you observe excessive swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, fluid buildup (hematoma), signs of infection, loss of feeling in the hands or arms, or unusual scarring, please get in touch with our office for help.
