What Is Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Your hormones manage many facets of your overall well-being, such as your emotions and libido. Hormonal imbalances might occur in patients of any gender, whether due to stress, advancing in years, or childbirth. Imbalanced hormones commonly lead to symptoms, including fatigue, diminished sexual desire, trouble sleeping, and weight gain. At Mississippi Institute of Weight Loss & Gulf Coast Aesthetics, Dr. Donald Balder provides bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) with BioTE® pellet therapy and IM testosterone injections (available for men) to increase your testosterone and allow you to attain improvements to your energy, sex drive, and focus. We offer a comprehensive evaluation of your potential deficiencies and review necessary laboratory data to optimize your care and hormone levels.  When deciding to proceed with pellet placement, an appointment will be scheduled. The procedure will be detailed consents reviewed. The procedure involves cleaning the posterio-lateral buttock/hip region, numbing the area with a lidocaine injection and placement of hormone pellets (dosing is scientifically calculated) thru a small device.  Pressure held for a few minutes and a sterile dressing is placed.  Typically, the procedure time is 10-15 minutes.  Dr Balder has kept his BioTE pellet program the most affordable HRT program on the coast.  If you would like to learn more about the bioidentical hormone replacement therapy options available and how they can benefit you, contact our office in Gulfport, MS to set up an appointment.

What Should I Expect After Hormone Therapy?

Every patient's symptoms are different, so each patient's plan is individualized.  Because BHRT is a uniquely customized therapy, it's necessary to abide by any follow-up orders, check hormone and nutrient levels, and honestly verbalize ongoing problems with your body. BHRT is backed by science.  Dr Balder and staff may utilize a male or female health assessment to best understand how serious a patients hormone axis may be deficient.  Most patients find significant improvements in their life and lifestyle almost immediately after starting the hormone administration.  Others, may take up to a few weeks to recognize significant positive  improvements.  Optimized hormones may help relieve some age related health issues, including: reduced energy and sex drive, decreased bone density, poor heart health, abnormal breast or prostate health,  and diminished cognition (brain fog), and memory.  Some patients could  undergo after effects similar to sensitivity, skin breakouts, hair thickening, and mood swings as the body gets used to the new hormone levels. Typically patients are re-dosed every 3-4 months.  Patients may even feel when the testosterone is decreasing with emergence of their prior symptoms and require shorter interval dosing.  Dr Balder and staff will follow up with you during your treatment to supervise your progress. Your dosage and treatment plan can also be adjusted as needed.
