What Should I Expect When I Have A Mass Excised?
Depending on the type of surgery required to remove the mass, you may need general, local, or regional anesthesia. Dr. Balder will make an incision, and depending on the size and location of the mass, he will attempt to remove the entire tumor, as well as 1 – 2 centimeters around the tumor called the margins. The margins are then examined to determine if the cells are cancerous. Further treatments or surgeries may be required if the tumor shows positive margins.
